I was pleasantly suprised by the attendance at this event, and must commend Gbenga Adekunle and Leo Adekoya for their brilliant organisation and effort.

Beyond the Dinner

Written by femiedun on August 2, 2008 – 1:10 pm

Well, thanks to everyone for your kind comments. But seriously, the real issue is not about whether we can organise ourselves in or out of a paper bag or where we are located. The issue is about the investment of time and resources. Through this forum, we have cited Remi Adeseun’s achievements when he was President; we refer to Ayo Joseph as a role model for the Alumni Association; we acknowledge Ifidon’s excellent delivery with this site and the forum it provides; we acknowledge JAI (Benjamin [Jaco]) Obuhoro’s work in enhancing the site and so on.

What they share is COMMITMENT. They have matched their emotions with CONCRETE ACTION and DELIBERATE INVESTMENT OF THEIR TIME AND MONEY. There are no free lunches (…or dinners for that matter…).  Some of us can devote time and effort, others can deploy their skills and talents, others may be able to write cheques. Whatever we can do, let’s “JUST DO IT”!

Femi Edun

FGCI OSA Lagos dinner held on July 26, 2008

Written by Kojere on August 1, 2008 – 3:47 pm

Just to fill everyone in on what a swell time we had at the FGCI old sutdents dinner on Saturday evening at the Marco Polo restaurant in Victoria Island. Lovely evening of fun, good music, great food and relaxed reunion with great diversity from Ayo Joseph (our mentor and role model) who finished in 1977 to many younger alumni who finished in the late ’90s. Kudos to the leadership of Femi Edun and his exco who worked out a way to make financing the least of the problems. Femi, please post the pics for our folks to enjoy. Have a gr8 time on Aug 16, will try to join in the fun there as well….after all i am a Yoruba man, and we are universally described as a fun loving race!
